Boko Haram poisons Water source In Borno - Nigerian Army

Press statement from the Nigerian Army:
Information reaching the Theatre Command, Operation Lafiya Dole indicates that Boko
Haram terrorists have now resorted to poisoning water sources like wells and streams
in areas they were dislodged by gallant troops or areas threatened by offensive
operations. The latest being the poisoning of the cattle water ponds in Kangallam village
along Marte and Abadam axis in Borno State where a large number of cattle died after
drinking water from the ponds.
Credible information available to the Theatre Command indicates that though no human
life was lost as a result of the barbaric act of the terrorists, however, some cattle were
killed after drinking water from some poisoned sources. The action of the terrorists is
no doubt aimed at taking their own pound of flesh on the innocent citizens and
livestock as a result of the unbearable offensive operations through the combined effort
of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force to route them out completely from
their enclaves and hide-outs all over the North East.
In view of this development citizens are called upon to avoid as much as possible
drinking water from unverified sources especially in locations that troops routed out
Boko Haram terrorists. You are please requested to disseminate this information to the
public through your medium. Thank you for your usual cooperation. Colonel TUKUR
GUSAU Deputy Director Army Public Relations

#Hilarious#The Spirit told me to Murder My Father For Scolding Me & I Did - SON

Thirty-five-year-old Nelson, who stabbed his father, Sunday Oamen, to death, in Abesan
Estate, in the Ipaja area of Lagos State, has said he did it because his father always
scolded him.
Oamen, who is currently being detained at the State Department of Criminal
Investigation, Yaba, told PUNCH Metro on Wednesday that he had smoked four wraps
of Indian hemp before committing the crime.
He faulted his parents for not giving him enough training, adding that he hated them
for always talking down on him.
Our correspondent had reported last week Monday that Nelson, a suspected drug addict,
stabbed his 75-year-old father to death on Friday, September 23.
It was reported that the deceased, a retired worker in a company in the Apapa area of
the state, was battling with stroke and always stayed indoors at the time of the incident.
Nelson was reported to have sneaked into the house and stabbed his father to death
with a broken bottle.
He was said to have covered his corpse with a blanket and fled the house.
Residents told our correspondent that the suspect, who always fomented trouble in the
community, escaped with the heart of his father.
On Wednesday, our correspondent reported that the suspect voluntarily turned himself
in to the police.
During a chat with PUNCH Metro, Nelson said he surrendered himself to the police
because he lost his peace after killing his father.
The Edo State indigene said he had always fought with his father before things went
awry on the fateful day.
He said, “I am the fourth child in a family of eight children. I have had several fights
with my dad in the past. There was a time I confronted him that I had been going
through a lot of challenges in life and I needed help, but he said I should sit at home
and he would be feeding me. I was angry because he wanted me to be dependent on
him and I needed to fend for myself.
“My parents knew that I smoke hemp and it sometimes affected my behaviour. They
asked me to quit it, and I did for some time. People advised them to take me for
medical care, but they said they did not have the money.
“I became addicted to hemp about six months ago. On Thursday night, a day preceding
the incident, I had gone to a joint where I smoked four wraps of hemp. I bought each
for N50.
“On Friday, around 11am, I was sitting outside the house when I started feeling restless
and a spirit told me to go inside and kill my father. I went in through the window and
when I got to where he was lying, I stabbed him in the neck and chest.”
He said after committing the act, he ran away because he was overcome with guilt.
Nelson, who dropped out of primary school, denied removing his father’s heart, adding
that after killing his father, his eyes became opened.
“The spirit that pushed me to kill my father began to tell me that I will not have rest
until I report myself to the police. When I could no longer bear it, I decided to report to
the police.
“It is not my fault. Whenever I talk to my parents, they always scolded me. And
sometimes, I felt they were not my parents. I killed my father because he always
chastised me and because I lost control of my senses.
“If I get out of this mess, I will surrender my life to Jesus. But if not, I resign myself to
fate,” he added.
Our correspondent learnt that the police would soon charge the suspect to court for the
offence.
But a police source said the suspect’s family was becoming hesitant in giving their full
support to the prosecution.
He said, “Some members of the family want him to face the consequence of his action,
but they are also considering the implication on their mother who had become old and
might not want to suffer double tragedies.
“However, the police will prosecute him. It is a straightforward murder case.”

14 - Year old Girl Flees Home To Live With 40 year old Lover In Lagos(Photo)

Two weeks after a 14-year-old girl, identified only as Rosemary, was rescued from the
apartment of her alleged lover, 40-year-old Chukwu Nkenna, the teenager has gone
missing again in the Agege area of Lagos.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Rosemary, who hails from Jos, Plateau State, had been taken
away from Nkenna’s apartment at Obelle Junction, Surulere, on Monday, September 8,
by officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Our correspondent gathered that Rosemary, who reportedly came to Lagos State in
January 2014, had been in the care of a non-governmental organisation interested in
girl education, before she left in December 2014, due to financial challenges.
The teenager was said to have met Nkenna, more commonly known as Kema, in the
Surulere area around January 2015. She was reportedly staying in Nkenna’s house, who
hails from Delta State.
PUNCH Metro learnt that in July, neighbours reported to the police in Surulere that
Rosemary was being sexually abused and was suspected to be pregnant.
It was gathered that the Surulere Police Division on Friday, August 21, arrested Nkenna,
for allegedly raping the teenager.
The matter was said to have been transferred to the State Department of Criminal
Investigation, Yaba, on Monday, August 24.
The police at SDCI were said to have later released Nkenna, while the victim was asked
to seek medical attention.
Our correspondent gathered that Rosemary thereafter went back to Nkenna to continue
to stay with him.
The matter was said to have also been brought to the attention of MWAPA, which sent
its officials to take the girl from the suspect’s house on September 8.
It was learnt that Rosemary was billed to go to a government rehabilitation centre, but
she opted to stay in the Agege area with her uncle.
Our correspondent learnt that on Sunday, October 13, Rosemary reportedly sneaked out
of her uncle’s apartment in Agege, and had since not been found.
When our correspondent visited Nkenna’s apartment in Surulere on the trail of the
teenager, she was not found. Nkenna was also said to have travelled out of Lagos State,
and was unavailable for comment.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Rosemary’s uncle, who identified himself simply as
Benjamin, said, “When Nkenna was initially arrested by the police and taken to SDCI,
the police failed to follow up the matter. They released him, and said we should allow
the girl to marry the man since they were both lovers.
“I was not happy with the way they treated that case. When they asked the two of them
to go home, she returned to Nkenna’s house until she was taken from the apartment by
government officials.
“Days later, she fled, and since that time, we have been looking for her. She called one
of my brothers two days ago, but she did not tell us where she was staying. We asumed
that she is with the suspect. We do not have Nkenna’s number. So, we cannot reach
him.
“We want the state government to arrest Nkenna and bring our daughter back. There
was a time that Nkenna called the family with Rosemary’s number, and we asked him to
show up, but he refused. We are still looking for her.”
When our correspondent got to MWAPA in Alausa, an official, who confirmed that the
ministry was handling the case, said the director of the Child Protection Unit was
unavailable for comment.
“The case was reported to the unit by an NGO, and we are working on it. The director is
not around to talk on it,” she added.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joe Offor, said investigation was ongoing on the
matter.
He said, “We have the case at the SDCI, and what we are investigating is alleged rape.
The police do not get involved in cases of relationships and marriages. If the girl is a
minor, the police know she cannot give a valid consent.
“The family of the girl should find out where their daughter is, and let the police know
so we can assist in recovering her. If the suspect is given an administrative bail, he will
come back on the day he is asked to report. If he does not show up, then we know what
to do.”
